The Whigs

I know I know, I haven’t been blogging all that much lately.  I sincerely apologize to my 5 loyal readers!  It is hard to blog when you spend 9+ hours working in front of a computer everyday.  Ugh.  Anyways, here are 10 concerts you should attend if you are living in the Chicagoland area.  I will be at most of these, so perhaps I will see you there?  Party!

  1. The Whigs @ Bottom Lounge - March 13
  2. Dr. Dog @ Double Door - April 10
  3. Ha Ha Tonka @ Subterranean - May 2
  4. Bruce Springsteen @ United Center - May 12
  5. Wilco @ The Pabst Theater (Milwaukee) - April 14 & 15
  6. Blitzen Trapper @ Empty Bottle - February 19 (Tonight)
  7. Death Cab for Cutie @ Aragon - April 17
  8. Les Claypool/Devotchka/Saul Williams @ The Riviera - March 21
  9. Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s/Cloud Cult @ Metro - April 1
  10. Raphael Saadiq @ Park West - March 12
Also I am sitting in on bass for my good friends Butterfly Assassins April 9 at Abbey Pub.  It will be my first time performing in quite some time, so come out and support the band.  They kick ass!

Fleet Foxes

Here are my top albums of 2008.  Fleet Foxes ran away with the album of year.  Their self-titled debut is a beautiful mix of Beach Boy harmonies and roots folk in the vein of My Morning Jacket.  Give this album a listen, it is truly a spiritual experience.

  1. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
  2. Sigur Rós - Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust
  3. MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
  4. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
  5. Beck - Modern Guilt
  6. The Whigs - Mission Control
  7. Ryan Adams & The Cardinals - Cardinology
  8. Lykke Li - Youth Novels
  9. Raphael Saadiq - The Way I See It
  10. Death Cab for Cutie - Narrow Stairs
  11. Liam Finn - I’ll Be Lightning
  12. The Raconteurs - Consolers Of The Lonely
  13. Okkervil River - The Stand Ins
  14. Kings of Leon - Only By The Night
