LG Music Video

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

As I mentioned in my previous post, Lenny Gilmore is one of my favorite photog’s. Well it seems that he recently took on the role of director and writer of a music video for Chicago indie rock band, Needers & Givers. The results are very impressive. The video has a Wes Anderson style to it, which is quite admirable. The song is pretty good too. Take a view for you self…

Fav Midwest Photog’s

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Over the past 3+ years of being in bands, I have had the pleasure of working with some pretty amazing photographers. All of these people have inspired my interest in photography. Below is a list of the photog’s and links to their work. Check these foos out!

George Barthel Photography - website
George is the first photographer The Rikters shot promos with. He is an extraordinary artist, capable of many styles. I recently had the chance to design and devolope his web site. If you look hard enough, you might find an old pic of me.

Lenny is a great friend and extremely talented young photographer, Lenny Gilmore’s style is unmistakable. Lenny is one of the first photographer’s I worked with and it has been very cool to see his artistry mature over the years.

Wallo Villacorta is another good friend and very talented young photographer. He has a very original style that is very sharp and clean. His color composition is quite distinct. Amazing black & whites in low lighting.

Tasha Schalk’s photos radiate with exuberant colors. Tasha is a staple photog in the Chicago music scene and for good reason.

Greg “The Mayor” Photography - flickr / myspace
Company of Thieves was pleasantly surprised to meet Greg “The Mayor” Andrews and few weeks back in Indy. He shoots some of the most “classic punk rock” photos ever. Greg is an amazing person and is very comfortable to be around. This comes through in his photos. He is a master of the candid shot.

Chilly

It’s rather chilly in Chicago for this time of year. This just gave me chills:

Bon Iver on Later… with Jools Holland.

I first heard this Wisconsinite’s ablum, For Emma, Forever Ago, a few weeks ago. It was truely a heart-felt listen. Please check out his song, Skinny Love. You can check it out HERE.

Ralph and Mentele’s

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

On the road for De Pere, WI, home of… uh…  Baba Louie’s!

Yesterday, Company of Thieves played a show at the Miramar Theater in Milwaukee.  Very cool room. We played with two great bands, Flights and Sleep Tight Co. Check them out, fo realz.  We played a nice 40 minute set to about 50 people, including the crackhead that stalked us at the local Walgreen’s.  Total fucking creep!  He ended up passing out at the show.  Good. It was Wally’s BDay, so we ended up drinking everything under the moon.  Wine, Jamo, beer.  Wally ended up ralphing and I should have.  I am totally hung right now.  Ugh.  Coldstone helped a bit!

We also had the pleasure of meeting another member of the infamous Mentele family.  Mark and Matt (our booking agent and good friend) were kicking it hardcore, both opening sets on some lovely ladies.  Such Mystery’s those Mentele’s are.

Getting car sick from typing on the road.  Feeling quite ill.  Ralph…

Eff this design

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Ok, so this “design” really sux and I need to find some time to fix it, but deal with it… I am.

I went to Improv Olympics last night to see my friend, Ben Cannon, perform. I haven’t been to IO in years. It was fucking awesome! I had quite a bit to drink and was a bit worried when they dimmed the lights. I thought I might loose it, but I kept my shit together, kept drinking Jamo’s and laughed.

Izzy is pissed. I was pissed. I am hung over. I think my brother touched a girl last night. I am working. All work and no play makes Brad a dull boy. Off to Wisconsin tomorrow…
